Project Statement:
PHANTOM SEASONS is an apparition inspired by two phenomena: the vibrant colors from each time of year, and our most limited resource of all – time. Using LEDs to light the surroundings of Jackson’s Town Enclosure site, PHANTOM SEASONS erupts in color at variable intervals like Old Faithful and other awe-inspiring geysers in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
This nightly ritual centers the changing impermanence of natural wonders and our own perspectives of time. As the seasons on this planet change each year, what changes do we notice in ourselves? What dreams will haunt the seasons that we have left? What realities will we leave behind for other beings to inherit?
Guest Programmer:
I was commissioned to activate the space with programming and events to attract audiences of all ages based on the ecological sciences within the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. The programming ranged from a biologist’s lecture to a dance film with a local contemporary dance company, the debut of a performance art collective, a youth focused workshop on light art, and a large local choir.
